Level 2 Electrician,
Eurobodalla

Level 2 work covers the network side of your power supply: new connections, metering, service lines and private poles, which a standard electrician is not accredited to do. Level 2 services

Level 2 services for
homes, builders
and businesses.

Connect 2 Power handles Level 2 work across Moruya, Batemans Bay and Narooma, including new connections, metering, consumer mains, private poles and defect notices. The Essential Energy paperwork and the certificate of compliance are included.

Connections & disconnections

New connections, temporary builders’ supply, and disconnections and reconnections, all done to Essential Energy’s requirements.

  • New connections for new builds and subdivisions

A new build or a subdivided block needs a new connection from Essential Energy’s network to your switchboard. We arrange the connection, install the service line and point of attachment, and fit the metering so the site is ready for power when the builder needs it.

  • Temporary builders’ supply and poles

Most building sites need power before the permanent connection is in. We install a temporary builders’ pole and supply, connect it to the network, and remove it once the house is connected.

  • Disconnections and reconnections

Renovations and demolitions often need the power disconnected at the street before work can start. We handle the disconnection, the reconnection when the job is done, and the Essential Energy notifications for both.

  • Underground mains connection

Where the supply comes in underground, we install and connect the consumer mains from the network pillar or pit to your main switchboard.

Metering

New meters, meter upgrades, solar metering and meter box work, all to current standards.

  • New meter installations

New builds, granny flats and separately metered units all need a meter installed and wired correctly. We install the meter panel and metering wiring and arrange the meter with Essential Energy and your retailer.

  • Meter upgrades for extra circuits or three-phase

If you are adding a workshop, an EV charger or other large loads, the existing meter and supply may not be enough. We upgrade the metering and the supply to three-phase where needed.

  • Solar and net metering changes

Adding solar means the metering has to change so the power you export is measured. We make the metering changes and the switchboard work that goes with them.

  • Meter box upgrades and relocations

We replace old, rusted or badly positioned meter boxes, or relocate them, and reconnect the service and metering.

Mains & service lines

Consumer mains, service lines, points of attachment and private poles, overhead or underground.

  • Overhead and underground consumer mains

Consumer mains are the cables from the point of attachment to your switchboard. We install new runs and replace old or undersized ones, overhead or underground.

  • Service line repairs and upgrades

We repair or replace damaged, sagging or undersized service lines so your supply is safe and has the capacity you need.

  • Point of attachment repairs

The point of attachment is where the service line connects to your house. We repair or replace damaged brackets and insulators, which is a common cause of defect notices.

  • Private power pole installation and replacement

Private poles on rural and larger blocks are the owner’s responsibility. We install new poles, replace rotten or leaning ones, and re-run the mains to suit.

Defect notices

If you have received a defect notice from Essential Energy, we fix the problems listed and get it cleared.

  • Essential Energy defect notice rectification

We inspect the defects listed, quote the repair, do the work and lodge the paperwork so the notice is cleared.

  • What the notice means

A defect notice means Essential Energy has found something on your side of the point of supply that does not meet the required standard. It is usually a service line, point of attachment, private pole or consumer mains issue, and it is the property owner’s responsibility to have it fixed.

  • The timeframe

The notice states how long you have to fix the defects. Serious hazards are given a shorter timeframe, and if the notice is ignored Essential Energy can disconnect your power. Send us a copy of the notice and we will tell you what is involved and how soon we can get to it.

  • The certificate of compliance

When the work is done we issue a Certificate of Compliance for Electrical Work and notify Essential Energy that the work is complete, which is what clears the notice.

FAQ

Common questions, answered.

Common questions about Level 2 electrical work in the Eurobodalla. Still unsure? Call Lachlan directly on 0403 201 139.

What is a Level 2 electrician?

A Level 2 electrician is a licensed electrician who also holds Level 2 accreditation under the NSW Accredited Service Provider (ASP) scheme. This allows them to work on the network side of your power supply, including service lines, points of attachment, metering, consumer mains and private poles. A standard electrical licence does not cover this work. Lachlan holds both, so the whole job can be done by one electrician.

What is an ASP and who accredits them?

ASP stands for Accredited Service Provider. The scheme is run by the NSW Government and sets out who is allowed to work on the state’s electricity networks. Level 1 ASPs build network assets such as poles and substations, Level 2 ASPs connect customers to the network and work on service lines and metering, and Level 3 ASPs design network assets. Connect 2 Power is a Level 2 ASP working on Essential Energy’s network across the Eurobodalla.

Does a new connection need a Level 2 electrician?

Yes. Connecting a new build, a subdivided lot or a builders’ supply to Essential Energy’s network is Level 2 work. The service line, the point of attachment and the metering all have to be installed by a Level 2 ASP before Essential Energy will turn the power on. We do the connection and the electrical work inside the house, so you only need to book one electrician.

What happens if a defect notice is ignored?

The notice gives you a timeframe to fix the listed defects. If nothing is done, Essential Energy can disconnect the power to the property until the defects are fixed, and it will not be reconnected until the work is done and notified. Serious hazards are given a shorter timeframe. The easiest thing to do is send us the notice as soon as you get it.

Who owns the private power pole?

The property owner. Everything on your side of the point of supply, including private poles and the consumer mains running from them, belongs to you and is your responsibility to maintain. Essential Energy owns and maintains the network up to that point. That is why defect notices for leaning or rotten private poles are sent to the property owner.

Do you handle the Essential Energy paperwork?

Yes. We lodge the service work notifications and connection paperwork with Essential Energy as part of the job, and let you know if your electricity retailer needs anything from you. At the end you get a Certificate of Compliance for Electrical Work.

How long does a new connection take?

It depends on the site. A straightforward connection where the service already exists is much quicker than a new build on a block with no pole, which needs Essential Energy approval and sometimes network work before we can connect. We cannot promise a fixed timeframe, but we will give you an honest estimate when we quote and lodge the paperwork early so nothing is held up on our end.

Do you cover Batemans Bay and Narooma as well as Moruya?

Yes. Essential Energy’s network covers the whole Eurobodalla Shire, so Level 2 work is available anywhere from Batemans Bay down to Narooma. Lachlan is based in Moruya, about 25 minutes from Batemans Bay and 40 minutes from Narooma, and works in both areas regularly. See the Batemans Bay and Narooma pages for more on each area.
